Visitor from Civic Theatre

This week in Room 1 we had many visitors in our room. Our friend Scott joined us from the Civic Theater to read us some stories. We really enjoyed the book Press Here since we were able to make the dots move and change the colors of the dots with our hands! It was a great treat to host Mayor Ballard in our building to sign the Indy PSP funding bill. We were so excited to finally get a chance to go outside and enjoy the materials out there, especially in the field area!

Color Pouring

In Room 1 we experimented with color pouring. The children took turns pouring paint onto a block and watched what happened to the colors as they mixed. The class has also enjoyed using the kitchen area that we recently added to our classroom. The children acted out making various meals for each other as well as kitchen clean up such as washing dishes. The children showed us the progress they have made in writing their names as well by signing a farewell card for Ms. Dana.

Yoga, Making Orange and Moon Sand

This week, in Room 1, we enjoyed having Ms. Jeanne come in and do some yoga with our class. She showed us some relaxation techniques and how to use some of the yoga gear we will use in the upcoming weeks. The children practiced measuring skills by helping make “Moon Sand” for the sensory table. We also experimented with color mixing and found that we can make orange paint by mixing yellow and red!

Exploring Snow

We have enjoyed getting to explore the snow that has fallen outside. With all of the snow and cold temperatures, we had the chance to spend some days with our friends from other classrooms.
